When I start a design, I begin with the question: “If you can buy it, why knit it?” If you’re going to invest your time making a garment, you want something unique and beautiful.

My design approach is quite practical. I may see a stitched pattern and think about how it can be used to best effect. I evaluate how a yarn knits and work up designs that take advantage of that yarn’s particular qualities. I love working with colour and tend to use it in a bold and graphical way.
